Getting started
AppApex is fastest when your agents have live data to chew on. This guide takes you from sign-up to your first prescriptive recommendation in under five minutes.
1. Create your workspace
Head to appapex.io/login and sign in with email (magic link) or Google. New accounts start a 3-day free trial on the plan you pick at checkout - you can cancel at any point during the trial from Settings → Billing.
After authentication you’ll be dropped into the onboarding flow. It asks four short questions (app category, current MRR band, primary goal, and your acquisition channel mix) so your agents can prioritize the right levers from day one. Skip if you want to - you can answer later from Settings.
2. Connect App Store Connect
AppApex needs an App Store Connect API key with Developer role or higher. The key is read-only by default; only Autopilot requires write access (which you grant per-action, not at the integration level).
- In App Store Connect, go to Users and Access → Keys → App Store Connect API.
- Click + to generate a new key. Name it
AppApexand pick the Developer role. - Download the
.p8file (it’s only shown once) and copy your Issuer ID and Key ID. - Back in AppApex, open Settings → Integrations → App Store Connect and paste all three values. We encrypt them AES-256-GCM at rest.
Your first sync starts immediately and usually completes in 30-60 seconds for one app. Reviews, downloads, conversion funnels, and search terms back-fill 90 days of history.
3. Connect your revenue platform
Revenue data is what turns observations into dollar-denominated impact estimates. We support two ways in:
RevenueCat
- Grab a project-scoped Secret API key from RevenueCat → Project settings → API keys.
- Add it in Settings → Integrations → RevenueCat.
- We’ll automatically attach a webhook to your project so trials, conversions, and cancellations arrive in real time.
Superwall
- In Superwall, open Settings → Webhooks and copy your server API key and app ID.
- Add both in Settings → Integrations → Superwall.
- We’ll register a webhook so paywall impressions and conversion events stream live. If you also run RevenueCat, both signals are de-duplicated by transaction ID.
4. Run your first agent
Most agents auto-schedule their first run within ten minutes of the integrations going live. To trigger one immediately:
- Open Agents.
- Pick any agent and click Run now. Conversion is the fastest first run - it usually finishes in under 90 seconds.
- Watch the live progress in the timeline rail in the top right. Findings stream into Inbox as soon as they finish.
5. Triage your first recommendation
Open Inbox. Each card shows the agent that found it, a priority pill, an impact estimate, and a confidence band. Click into the detail view to see the evidence - typically a comparison table, a trend chart, or a side-by-side of current vs. proposed copy.
From there you have three options:
- Approve & ship - Growth and Studio plans execute the change immediately via the connected integration. Starter plans get a step-by-step playbook to ship it yourself.
- Snooze 24h - Hide it from the queue but keep the agent watching.
- Dismiss- Tell the agent this lever doesn’t apply. It won’t resurface for at least 14 days.
What’s next
- Add competitors to track in Rivals. The Spy agent uses this list for its weekly briefing.
- Decide if you want Autopilot enabled. Growth and Studio plans can hand specific action types over to the agents to ship without approval.
- Set up quiet hours so no autopilot actions run during launches, weekends, or vacations.
