Spy alert thresholds
The Spy agent watches your rivals and pings you when something meaningful changes. Thresholds are what separate signal from noise. Here is what it tracks and how to tune it.
What Spy tracks
- Price and subscription changes on tracked competitors
- Paywall and screenshot updates
- New releases and notable release-note changes
- Category and keyword ranking moves
- Sudden swings in review volume or sentiment
Threshold settings
Open Agents, then Spy, then its settings. Each threshold sets the minimum change required to raise an alert.
price_change_pctdefault 5%Minimum price move on a tracked competitor before alerting.
rank_deltadefault 10Category or keyword rank positions gained or lost in a day.
review_velocitydefault 2xMultiple of a rival's baseline daily review rate that counts as a spike.
release_alertsdefault onAlert on any new version, or only on releases with paywall or pricing changes.
Where alerts land
Alerts arrive in your Inbox, roll up into the weekly competitive briefing, and post to Slack if you have it connected.
Start with the defaults for a week, then tighten the thresholds on whichever signal is the noisiest. It is easier to loosen a quiet alert than to trust a chatty one.
